Seven decisions that govern AI at machine speed
Most organisations now have an AI policy. Few have decided where their AI may make decisions, who can change the rules it follows, or who can stop it.
This playbook turns the governance argument of Evolve: The Operating Model AI Demands into seven decisions an executive can make, record and audit. Only about 5% of organisations capture AI value at scale, and they got there by redesigning processes and governance around the capability, not by buying more tools (Boston Consulting Group, 2025b). Banks that placed human review at the irreversibility boundary, the point beyond which a wrong decision cannot be corrected in the next iteration, achieved more than twice the production rate of banks that reviewed every step (Buehler et al., 2024).
