COURSE OVERVIEW

Leadership is the missing ingredient in most agile transformations

Most organisations adopt agile frameworks without changing how leaders lead. The result is Scrum teams operating under command-and-control management — producing the dysfunction the framework was designed to eliminate. PAL-E addresses that gap directly. Over two days, participants examine what agility actually demands of leaders and leave with a practical model for enabling it.

DAY 1

Understanding agility and your role in it

From the origins of agility to the Scrum framework, psychological safety, and what empiricism means for leaders. Participants examine how their current leadership behaviours support or undermine team performance.

DAY 2

Leading an agile organisation

Day 2 shifts from understanding to application — connecting agile delivery to organisational strategy, building a culture that sustains improvement, and developing the leadership practices that high-performing teams need from those above them.

AUDIENCE

Who this course is for

This course is for senior leaders responsible for enabling agile teams — not for Scrum practitioners. If you manage people who work in agile environments, or if you are sponsoring an agile transformation, this is where you start.

The executive sponsor

Accountable for the transformation and needing a grounded understanding of what agile leadership actually requires.

The senior manager

Leading people in agile environments and wanting to support rather than obstruct their teams.

The people leader

Whose organisation is adopting agile and needs practical language to engage with their teams effectively.

WHAT'S INCLUDED

PAL I is the Scrum.org certification for leaders

Issued by Scrum.org — founded by Scrum co-creator Ken Schwaber. The PAL I credential is designed for leaders and managers, not practitioners. It signals that you understand what agile leadership requires and have demonstrated that understanding through a rigorous assessment.

What's included

Your question won't be in a leadership book.
Your trainer's answer shouldn't be either.

ZXM trainers have used agile at every level of scale — from one team to enterprise transformations spanning hundreds of people. They bring real case studies from government and corporate Australia, not hypotheticals.

ZXM’s lead trainers — Matt and Mia — are Professional Scrum Trainers (PSTs) certified by Scrum.org, who advise C-suite and SES executives on agile operating models across government and corporate Australia.
