What This Workshop Covers
Every product has a lifecycle — and most organisations manage it reactively rather than deliberately. This half-day workshop provides product managers, product leaders, and cross-functional teams with frameworks for managing the full arc of a product: from ideation and creation through growth, maturity, and eventual end-of-life.
Participants develop a working understanding of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), what each stage of the lifecycle looks like, and what actions are required day-to-day, week-to-week, and month-to-month. They leave with a practical framework for design change processes, governance gates, and the decision criteria that determine when a product should evolve, pivot, or be retired.
PART 1
PLM Fundamentals and Design Governance
From ideation and introduction through to growth and maturity. Participants develop a working understanding of the full product lifecycle, how PLM differs from day-to-day product management, and how to build design change and governance frameworks that scale with the product.
PART 2
Decision Criteria and End-of-Life
How to evaluate PLM effectiveness, apply structured decision criteria to product evolution versus pivot versus retirement, and develop end-of-life transition plans that protect customer relationships and minimise disruption.

ZXM practitioners have managed product portfolios at the program and enterprise level — across government agencies, financial services, and technology organisations. They bring direct experience of the governance failures, change process breakdowns, and lifecycle decisions that PLM addresses.
ZXM’s lead practitioners — Matt and Mia — have advised C-suite and SES executives on product operating model design across Australia and APAC. This workshop draws directly from that advisory practice.
