What This Course Covers
Product Thinking is a 1/2 day workshop for product managers and their teams who need to get closer to the problem before they get closer to the solution. It is designed for cross-functional groups — designers, delivery managers, engineers, business analysts, and anyone who influences what gets prioritised to build and why.
The course develops capability across four dimensions: Customer centricity over customer-led work, measuring value, evidence-based management, and storymapping. Participants leave with a shared mental model, practical tools, and the language to challenge the turn product hypothesis into an actionable roadmap.
PART 1
Customer Understanding and Value Framing
Developing deep empathy for the people you build for. Participants learn techniques for uncovering real customer needs — not assumed ones — and practice framing product opportunities in terms of customer value and business outcomes.
PART 2
Evidence-Informed Practice and Storytelling
Moving from opinion-driven decisions to evidence-led ones. Participants learn what qualitative and quantitative signals to trust, how to act on ambiguous data, and how to translate insights into compelling narratives that align stakeholders and drive product decisions.

Stop building the wrong thing. Start here.
ZXM’s practitioners have helped organisations at every scale — from early-stage product teams to government programmes with hundreds of practitioners — shift from solution-first to problem-first thinking. They have seen first-hand how much waste comes from building before the problem is understood.
ZXM’s lead practitioners — Matt and Mia — have advised C-suite and SES executives on product operating model design, product strategy, and team capability building across Australia and APAC. This course draws directly from that advisory practice.
